Mrs. Gibbons, Vice President, Quality and Safety for the South Carolina Hospital Association (SCHA) earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina and Masters of Science in Health Law from Nova Southeastern University. She is a Certified Professional in Health Care Quality (CPHQ) and a certified Just Culture Trainer. She currently serves as Co-lead and faculty for AHA’s Ambulatory Surgery Center Safe Surgery initiative, and co-lead working with the Harvard School of Public Health and Ariadne Labs developing and implementing the Safe Surgery 2015: SC initiative across South Carolina.
Mrs. Gibbons has provided Just Culture training to over 40 individual South Carolina hospitals and their executive leadership. She has presented Safe Surgery 2015: SC statewide implementation processes as well as High Reliability principles “Harnessing the Power of Zero” at the 2015 IHI national meeting. Mrs. Gibbons manages and oversees all quality improvement and patient safety staff and initiatives for the SC Hospital Association. She is a member of multiple state and national quality improvement professional organizations.
