Healthy Together NC Prevention Academy | April 6, 2016 | 9:30am-3:00pm | NC State University

The Healthy Together NC Prevention Academy, presented by Prevention Partners and sponsored by the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust, brings together local businesses, organizations, and wellness leaders that are committed to establishing a strong wellness environment. Prevention Academies are open to WorkHealthy America and Simple Steps participant organizations free of charge. 

 

The 2016 Prevention Academy will feature:

Breakout sessions to help your organization strengthen your healthy food environment, provide more physical activity opportunities, and promote comprehensive tobacco cessation resources to your employees;

Discussions on challenges and overcoming barriers for successful wellness initiatives;

Interactive dialogue on engaging community organizations to adopt changes and improve overall environments;

Socializing and networking with other community leaders; and

Recognition and reward for your wellness achievements in the past year.

 

A light breakfast and healthy lunch will be provided.

Surgeon General’s Call to Action – Walking as a Practice | April 14, 2016 | 2:00pm-3:00pm | Webinar

This is part of the 2016 Webinar Series “The Call to Action in Action.” The release of the Surgeon General’s Call to Action on Walking & Walkable Communities in September 2015 was a watershed moment for the walking movement. Its release provided leadership and motivation for governments, businesses, and organizations to address the numerous barriers to safe, active mobility and promote the multiple health benefits of walking.
