Governor’s Cup Webinar | February 15 | 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

This year Working Well is partnering with the Lexington Medical Center Governor’s Cup Road Race, the oldest continuously conducted running event in South Carolina, to promote the race to employers throughout SC. This 2017 running festival is scheduled for May 19-20 and includes the following events:

Governor’s Cup Half-Marathon

Blue Cross Blue Shield 5K Run and Walk

Main Street Mile

Kids’ Mile Fun Run

The Governor’s Cup’s new Working Well Corporate Challenge is intended to promote health and fitness among employees at worksites across South Carolina. Participants are encouraged to take part in all the Governor’s Cup events. 

Working Well will be releasing an employer toolkit with communication materials that companies can use to promote the event to their employees. Working Well will host a webinar on February 15 for employers to learn more about the toolkit and how to get involved.

Awareness, motivation, skills, opportunity…what is the right mix? There is growing evidence that systematic approaches are effective in motivating people to adopt or maintain positive lifestyle habits, especially when they include improving awareness of the benefits of healthy lifestyle; enhancing motivation to form and maintain positive habits; building the skills necessary to perform new behaviors; and creating opportunities that make the healthy choice the easiest choice. But what do we know about the relative importance of each of these four elements, or even the most effective approaches within them? This conference will explore these questions.
