Tracking Legal Challenges to Health Care Reform Law
On June 1, a panel of three judges in the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati heard arguments from the federal government and a lawyer representing the Thomas More Law Center in its challenge to the health law. While attorney Robert Muise rejected the idea that Congress has authority to mandate Americans purchase insurance, acting U.S. Solicitor General Neal Katyal, maintained that the mandate is essential to ensure the health care system works for everyone.
