Tort Reform bill to be taken up after budget
Last week, the South Carolina Fairness in Civil Justice Act, H.3375 (Harrell), was moved from Special Order to the status of Interrupted Debate. As the business community’s top priority, H.3375 is aimed at reducing frivolous law suits and establishing caps on punitive damages in order to improve South Carolina’s business climate and competitive edge in attracting economic development. The bill is expected to be taken up once state budget negotiations are wrapped up in the Senate.
