Bruce Holstien has been named the new President and CEO of Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System. Bruce comes from Corpus Christi, Texas, where he served as President and CEO of CHRISTUS Spohn Health System. Prior to that role, he was an executive with Sentara Health System in Norfolk, Virginia.
“I am excited about this opportunity to come to Spartanburg Regional. This is a great community, and there is no question that the medical care delivered here is as good as anywhere in the country. During my tenure at Sentara, we benchmarked against Spartanburg Regional – the innovation and clinical outcomes here are known as some of the best in the U.S.
“I am happy to be joining one of the nation’s best health systems. In my first 30 days, I intend to spend the majority of my time listening to our physicians, to our staff, and to our community. I need their counsel on how to continue to move this organization forward. Communication, learning and listening, is vital. Of course the highest priority will be to continue to focus on patient-centered care and achieving the best outcomes.
“Spartanburg is blessed to have some of the top physicians in the country, and physicians are prominent in Spartanburg Regional’s success. I intend to work closely with them to ensure that Spartanburg Regional is providing the very best care right here at home.
“In order to achieve the patient centered focus that is so critical in all that we do, staff must feel fulfilled. They have to have a calling for the work that they do, and it is an obligation of leadership to facilitate that calling.”
Bruce enjoys golf, fishing and hunting. Bruce, his wife and two of their children are eagerly anticipating their move to Spartanburg. Bruce will begin with Spartanburg Regional in early August.
