Report: Many Uninsured Young Adults Delay Care Due To Cost
About 58% of uninsured adults under age 30 reported delaying needed care because of costs in 2010, according to a new report from the Commonwealth Fund. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is expected to help these young adults gain coverage, the report notes, with at least 600,000 covered to date under an ACA provision allowing them to remain on or join their parents’ policies up to age 26.
In addition, an estimated 12.1 million uninsured adults under age 30 could gain subsidized coverage under the ACA beginning in 2014, the report adds.
