Palmetto Health braces for lower government payments

Palmetto Health expects to take a hit of up to $30 million in lost revenue from lower government reimbursements in the coming year, but the hospital system’s leader says it should be able to deal with the reduction without reducing its staff.

“We’ve been anticipating this for awhile,” said Palmetto Health chief executive Charles D. Beaman Jr. “It’s not something we just wake up one day and say, ‘Oh gosh, what do we do?’ ”
