Open Enrollment Success

South Carolina Nearly Matches 2017 Numbers Despite Confusion and Shortened Enrollment Window

Despite the confusion and many changes that occurred to the Open Enrollment period for the 2018 Health Insurance Marketplace, South Carolina turned in strong numbers as the 45-day window ended. 218,435 South Carolina residents signed up for coverage, according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, which is just 5% less than last year's period which took place over 3 months!

SCHA is proud of the numerous organizations and hospitals that worked hard to get South Carolinians signed up for coverage and would like specifically thank McLeod Health, Palmetto Health, and Baptist Easley, who served as SCHA’s Open Enrollment event sponsors. Thanks to the resilience and hard work in our communities, thousands more South Carolinians will go into 2018 with health insurance for their families.
