NC Prevention Partners Receives National Health Innovation Award

NC Prevention Partners is doing some great work to improve worksite wellness in organizations large and small. They were recently recognized nationally for their efforts to improve healthy food environments in hospitals across the state by the US Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). Kathleen Sebelius, DHHS Secretay, awarded NC Prevention Partners (NCPP) with the Healthy Living Innovation Award in the non-profit category. NCPP was only one of eight organizations chosen nationally and the only organization in North Carolina chosen for their work in health promotion.

The healthy food environment program sets a statewide standard for hospitals to promote and encourage healthy eating through increased access to healthy foods, pricing strategies to encourage healthy eating, marketing materials to promote and increase awareness of healthy options offered, and improve benefit design and create incentives that encourage behavior change among employees.
