National Quality Forum vote on PSI-90

The National Quality Forum (NQF) currently has a measure endorsement project reviewing several patient safety measures, including an updated version of the PSI-90 measure used in the HAC and VBP programs. While we acknowledge the work that went into tweaking the measure, we believe it continues to lack the reliability and accuracy needed for both NQF endorsement and use in CMS quality reporting programs.

The project has now reached the NQF Member Voting phase, where organizations that are NQF members can vote to support or not support a measure for endorsement before it goes through final approval by the Consensus Standards Approval Committee and NQF Board. The AHA plans to vote against the endorsement of PSI-90 (NQF # 531), and would urge those of you whose organizations are NQF members to do the same. Votes can be submitted through 6pm ET on Nov. 4.
