Legislators Turn Out for SCHA Legislative Reception

On Wednesday, February 27, SCHA hosted its Annual Legislative Shrimp Boil for members of the South Carolina General Assembly. The event gave SCHA's member hospitals the opportunity to discuss Medicaid expansion and other issues on the SCHA legislative agenda directly with their State Representatives and Senators.

The evening began with a briefing where SCHA Executive Vice President Allan Stalvey and Director of Government Affairs Elizabeth Powers updated hospital representatives on the debate surrounding Medicaid expansion and other issues critical to hospitals. After the briefing, members joined their elected officials for great food and hopefully great discussions on the need to expand health coverage to more vulnerable South Carolinians.

Special thanks to all the hospitals that were represented at the event and all the legislators that attended to make the event such a success. The annual SCHA Legislative Reception is a unique opportunity to educate your legislators on the vital issues facing your hospital in a casual, relaxed setting. And the SCHA Advocacy Team encourages you to take advantage of any opportunity to educate public officials on the issues facing South Carolina's hospitals
