Jim O'Loughlin Elected Chair of South Carolina Hospital Association Board

Jim O'LoughlinColumbia, S.C. (February 21, 2011) – The South Carolina Hospital Association has selected Jim O"Loughlin, CEO of Carolinas Health System in Florence as chairman of the South Carolina Hospital Association (SCHA) Board of Trustees for 2011. The SCHA membership elected board members and officers for 2011 during the Association's annual meeting on Feb. 17 in Columbia.

O'Loughlin is an active member of the SCHA, having served ont eh Board since 2008 and as the 2010 chairman of the organization's Policy Council.

Since 2002, he has served as CEO of Carolinas Hospital System. He previously served as CEO of Gadsden Regional Medical Center in Alabama, and held the position of president and CEO of Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma. He also served as CEO of St. Mary's Hosptail in Oklahoma and chief operating officer of Tallahassee Community Hospital in Florida.

O'Loughlin is also a civic leader, serving on numberous boards including the United Way healthcare, Boy Scouts of America, Boys and Girls Club, Florence-Darlington Technical College, Francis Marion University Foundation, Florence Economic Development Partnershp and the YMCA.

Members of the SCHA also selected Palmetto Health CEO Charles D. Beaman, Jr. as chairman-elect. Oconee Medical Center President and CEO Jeanne Ward remains treasurer of the board. The board directs the Columbia-based association's statewide representation of hospitals and health care providers.

Lisa Montgomery; CFO of the Medical University of South Carolina; Rob Colones, CEO of McLeod Health in Florence; and Rich D"Alberto, CEO of Laurens County Healthcare System in Clinton, were reelected to second three-year terms on the board.
