House budget committee elects new chair
Last Tuesday, Rep. Dan Cooper (Anderson) Chairman of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee submitted his resignation both as Chairman and as member of the House, effective June 29. The Ways and Means Committee elected Representative Brian White (Anderson) as the new Chairman effective June 29. Rep. White currently serves as HHS Budget Subcommittee Chairman and has been an active proponent of health care issues.
Other officers elected include: First Vice Chairman, Representative Chip Limehouse (Charleston); Second Vice Chairman, Representative Mike Pitts (Laurens); and Third Vice Chairman, Representative Roland Smith (Greenville). Best wishes to Rep. Cooper upon his retirement from the SC General Assembly.
