Hospitals Working Together

Historically, hospitals have considered other facilities competitors, not partners. But through a strong, shared desire to make care better, safer and more affordable in our state, South Carolina hospital leaders and staff are becoming expert collaborators.

Teamwork is the common thread in so many of our success stories.

In 2011 the federal government established “Partnership for Patients,” a health care reform program designed to encourage providers work together to explore new solutions for preventing unnecessary re-hospitalizations, infections and other issues within hospitals.

SCHA and healthcare improvement company Premier Inc. led the South Carolina team.  During its first two years, 10,706 harmful events were prevented and nearly $103 million in health care costs avoided.
