Hospital Leaders Travel to Washington, DC

Hospital leaders from across the country recently travelled to the 2012 American Hospital Association (AHA) Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.  A large group of hospital CEOs, trustees and other leaders from South Carolina participated in this event and heard from political strategists on the upcoming elections, updates on the outcome of the Supreme Court hearing, the role and the future of healthcare reform, and insight from leading experts on the greatest challenges facing the hospital industry.  At the conclusion of the AHA meeting, the South Carolina group traveled to Capitol Hill to meet with members of the South Carolina congressional delegation.  Representatives from SCHA had the opportunity to meet with Senators Graham and DeMint, as well as Representatives Joe Wilson, Jim Clyburn, Tim Scott, and Jeff Duncan.  These visits provided the opportunity to share the great work hospitals in this state are doing to achieve the “Triple Aim,”   as well as the need for regulatory and medical liability reform and the importance of adequate reimbursement for hospitals.  This is an essential part of our advocacy efforts each year and we greatly appreciate those who took the time to participate.
