South Carolina Hospital Association (SCHA) is holding an event on Sunday, Feb. 15 that will offer free, one-on-one assistance to those who wish to enroll in the health insurance marketplace. The event will take place from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m., the deadline to enroll, at the Brookland Baptist Church in West Columbia.
In South Carolina, 88 percent of those who have signed up for Marketplace plans have received tax credits to reduce the cost of their health insurance. Last year, 70 percent paid less than $100 per month for insurance.
“We understand that purchasing health insurance can be a daunting task, so we’ve partnered with certified assisters and insurance brokers who will walk families through choosing the plan that best meets their health care needs and budget,” said Rozalynn Goodwin, SCHA’s vice president of community engagement.
Please bring any documents that will help you to estimate your 2015 income such as pay stubs, tax return, ledger, W-2s; social security numbers and birth dates for all who need insurance; immigration documents; insurance cards for anyone currently insured and losing insurance within 60 days; and premium cost for employee-only employer sponsored coverage.
This event is free and open to the public. In addition, a Spanish-speaking navigator will be present. Refreshments will be provided by Palmetto Health. Brookland Baptist Church is located at 1066 Sunset Blvd. West Columbia, S.C. 29169.
