The American Hospital Association kicked off the fundraising campaign for the CARE Fund with a generous $25,000 donation last Friday. This marks the first large corporate contribution to the fund, which was created to provide direct assistance to hospital employees affected by the recent flooding. The funds will be distributed through hospitals directly to hospital employees to help with unmet disaster-related expenses.
The most recent numbers from FEMA indicate that more than 18,000 requests for individual assistance have already been approved in South Carolina. That equals more than $55 million approved through FEMA’s individual assistance program with more than $48 million of that for housing-related expenses.
