Federal Advocacy

Working closely with the American Hospital Association, SCHA communicates frequently with South Carolina's congressional delegation to advocate positions on federal issues that are favorable to our members and the people of our state.

  1. Ensure hospitals have the resources they need to provide high-quality care and meet the needs of their communities.

  2. Achieve clinical integration which requires changing provider culture, redesigning payment methods and incentives, and modernizing federal laws.

  3. Encourage policymakers to preserve access for the people who cannot afford to buy insurance without subsidies.

  4. Maintain federal funding for the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) in a sustainable, long-term way.

  5. Oppose cuts to important funding sources relied upon by rural hospitals and those serving uninsured or underinsured individuals.
