Interstate Medical Licensure Compact

The Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) is an agreement between 37 states that provides for an expedited pathway to licensure for qualified physicians. The IMLC increases access to needed physicians and reduces the average licensure period for qualified medical professionals. SCHA supports South Carolina joining the IMLC to expand access to care and address the physician shortage.

In addition to reducing average time to licensure for qualified physicians, the IMLC will expand South Carolina’s access to care via telemedicine and allow SC providers to more seamlessly offer telehealth services in other compact states.
