Zara, Mongell named to CON Study Review Panel

The Department of Health and Environmental Control Board named 23 individuals to the Certificate of Need (CON) Study Review Panel last week. Providence Hospitals CEO George Zara and Colleton Medical Center CEO Mitch Mongell are among the panelists who will study the CON process, the statutory requirement and the CON regulations. Other SCHA members on the panel include Mark Lyles of the Medical University of South Carolina and Doug Bowling of Roper St. Francis Healthcare. Palmetto Health/USC School of Medicine Pediatrics Graduates Achieve Perfect Marks

Every graduate of the Palmetto Health/USC School of Medicine Pediatric Residency Program passed the board of exams for the third consecutive year. Read about their success.

Providence Hospitals Receives Duke Endowment Grant

The Duke Endowment has granted Providence Hospitals a grant to improve communitywide care for elderly Midlands residents, including care they need both inside and outside the hospital. Providence Hospitals will partner with an organization that provides at-home care for the elderly to ensure that patients receive the transitional care they need to prevent readmission when possible. SCHA's Osborne Receives Rex W. Gause Award

Congratulations to SCHA Vice President of Finance and Reimbursement Barney Osborne, who received the Rex W. Gause Award for the Most Active Certified Member at the South Carolina Healthcare Finance Management Association (HFMA) Annual Awards. This award was established by the SCHFMA Board of Directors to honor the most outstanding certified chapter members. To be eligible for this award, a member must be certified and must have shown outstanding loyalty and dedication to the SC chapter.
