SC Mission 2011: Midlands

More than 2,000 people were served at SC Mission 2011: Midlands at the Carolina Coliseum in Columbia.

During the two-day event, patients received multiple services to address their most critical health needs. On Friday alone, the on-site pharmacy filled about 800 prescription medications while two local labs cut the lenses that would allow 300 prescription eyeglasses to be distributed.

Behavorial health services, sexually transmitted disease counseling, patient education, mammography and other screenings were also available.

Around 1,500 clinical and non-clinical volunteers came together from throughout the state to provide care to the community’s underserved and uninsured adults. Among the dental volunteers was Edward Herschaft, DDS, who flew in from Las Vegas, NV.
